Psaltery
The psaltery is a small stringed instrument similar to a dulcimer. Traditionally It is played using feathers which have been cut to sharp points for plucking the strings. The 23 strings are tuned to a diatonic scale and the instrument would usually have to be tuned to each piece.
In the kontakt instrument the recorded samples have been tuned to allow for chromatic playing. Glissandos can be played via the modwheel and using the user interface buttons to determine a scale. For more information please see the manual here: portfolio_manual.pdf
